The Best Way to Lace Dress Boots

I use this method for dress shoes, not for heritage boots. But I agree this method makes sense for oxford boots.

This the way the British world laces footwear. Looks good does the job and won’t get you decapitated by Gurkhas.

No. Start as shown but equal lengths. then 1 up & horizontally across the outside on one side and 2 up & across on the other. then 2 up and across alternately. Finish will have 1 up one side and 2 up the other.

I pretty much bar lace absolutely everything. I know some boots really don't call for it but I just really like the look.

When lacing the boots, do you have to lace them with your foot in them? The lacing looks very clean but I dont see how you would slip your foot in and out of those and how to keep them tight on your foot.... is it just me?

I just feel like you shouldn't have speed hooks on a dress shoe, but thats just me.

Do you need to completely unlace then to loose to get your foot in the boot? Also how "much shorter" (a half, a quarter?) do you need to go with the shorter lace?

If your boot is casual enough to have speed hooks you dont use bar lacing.

I ordered a pair of dress shoes from Thursday which were laced like this. It confused me regarding getting my foot in and out. So I sent them back.
