More Steam Engines In One Place That You Can Imagine! Real Operating Steam Locomotives! These steam trains are in Cass, West Virginia at the Cass Scenic Railroad State Park. This is the Parade Of Steam. 5 Steam Locomotives putting on Americas best steam show. Plenty of smoke and whistles. There are 4 Shay locomotives and one Heisler locomotive that are all under steam and running between the railroad crossing at the train station and the water tower at the railroad shop area. We also see a double headed steam train at a public railroad crossing shoving up the steep mountain to Spruce, West Virginia.
When at Cass, listen in on 160.455 and find out what is going on. They also have an HO scale model railroad. It is seen near the end of the video. The model train layout is set up to represent what Cass looked like back in the day. Don't forget to see what the pets are up to and check out the slide show at the end of the video.
The Parade Of Steam is an annual event in Cass. I filmed this a couple years ago and posted it while the 2023 Parade Of Steam was going on. Look for the updated version out soon.
Filmed Saturday, June 19, 2021 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

Those whistles represent an era that really solidified the building of America with families determined to make a go of it. To be fair not everything was the " good old days" but these Steamers represent true engineering to overcome whatever nature threw at them. It certainly isnt noise but rather a sound that told millions of people in towns large and small here we come and we're getting it done. Happy Father's Day whether trackside or by the BBQ.

I enjoyed watching all of the shays in operation! And that Climax locomotive (#9) is a rare oddity.

I was wondering if you were there for this years parade. I absolutely love hearing the whistles resounding throughout the beautiful mountains of West Virginia.
It's been a minute since I've been over to Cass, but I've riden up to Whittaker and Bald Knob dozens of times over the years.
Happy Father's day everyone.

Love this. Those distant whistles echoing through the valleys just puts goosebumps on your arms. Nothing more nostalgic than that. One good thing about being old is that I'm old enough to remember the distant whistle of a steam engine. Thanks JT.

Those whistles echoing in the mountains are an unmatched piece o All the major railroad conpanies need to go back and use the steam engines and old passenger cars for overnight trips and "dinner trains"!!! Wouldnt that be a hoot

Did the Greenbrier Express Experience last Sunday. Great ride to Durbin. The river views and valley was great. Seen fishermen and deer 🦌. Well worth it

I loved it when they would run them through the Swannanoa Valley (Black Mountain, NC) years ago. We would find a spot to wait, then get in the car and go out ahead of it so you could see it again! Great times!

Everything about them is cool! I especially like the old steam whistles. They sound so much better than the modern versions

Great video! Enjoy seeing those ole shays & the climax pull! They may not be fast, but they can drag a mountain behind them!
Cass is only about a 100 miles west, so we all love to go there.
Thanks again for letting us all get up close and personal to the railroads!

Great trains from them there old days. With all the moving parts I'd say they are pretty quiet.
