Using the shop products, I tried to make the principle of the linear motor car.
You can be easy to arrange the copper rail and the magnet to the piece of wood.
By the force of Lorentz force, for a given direction of the magnetic force,
When a current is applied in a certain direction, it becomes a physical force, pieces of aluminum will move.
When the current to reverse, pieces of aluminum will be back.

Since you are not talking I am left to assume the poles of the magnets as you sit them in place.
North and south facing up alternating. Since there is no writings on them, nor can a person tell how you picked them up from your stack. I tried to catch it but your hands certainly is in the way.

The long rods ( the rails) are copper.

Caution: The magnets have to be really close, like in the video. If you have more than a cm between them, it doesn't work at all.

This is very interesting. I am considering creating a LIM launch mini-coaster. So some questions:
1) To make the axel move faster do you simply increase the voltage?
2)The foil is folded into a cylinder to minimise friction I assume. would the same principle work with a flat piece of foil?

Watched it. Needs more info about materials. Why can't this concept be adapted to a tube, with computer controlled electromagnets, switching polarity; and stood on end. Presto, satellite sent to space! Embed / build into a building, for maintenance. The cost will be horrendous, at first, but the payoff will be past worthwhile.

I watched your video. It was nice but I had one doubt that whether you had placed the magnets in attraction or in repulsion?
And if you can give your materials name more specifically then it will be suitable for me.

We have built this but it isn't working, we have used copper wire though, does it need to be copper rail/arods? Any other suggestions as to what we could look at? Thank you

I used two wires, a copper tube, a ring magnet, and a voltage source (9V) and it didn't work! where is the problem ?

What kind of aluminum is magnetic? Is that a TIN foil? Aluminum is what all our MRI SAFE stuff is made of. I'm highly CURIOUS about that axle in the first place.
