How To Hire A Traffic TICKET Lawyer
Показать описание
There may come a time when you will find yourself in the need to hire a traffic ticket lawyer? But how do you go about that? In this video I will give you the top 5 things you need to know when hiring a traffic ticket lawyer.
The first is location Make sure the attorney you choose is familiar with the area in which you received the ticket. Lawyers that are familiar with the area that you received the ticket will have a better chance at fighting your ticket. There are justifications and defenses the lawyer is likely to know about and can better be of service to you.
The second thing is communication
Make sure that when you contact a lawyer, he/she is up front with you and conveys his/her advice in a clear manner. Ask them to speak in plain language and not in legal jargon. Most lawyers will offer a free initial phone consultation or even visit. Take this time and size up the lawyer and see what the lawyer has to offer and you should try and establish a good rapport. Also if you’re in the office take a look around…is it messy…that’s a red flag.
The third thing and what some will find very important is price
Be mindful that there are some lawyerss out there who advertise a very low fee, but once you hire them, they change their tune and inflate the price to reflect your “special” or “unique” circumstances. If you have received several tickets in the past, they may make you literally pay for that. The old saying holds true in that “You get what you pay for.” Don’t be so quick to hire a lawyer solely on price, as more often than not, the lowest priced lawyer is not necessarily the most competent.
The next thing is Referrals
This is very important as far as I’m concerned among the Top 5. You can do all the online research you want…nothing beats a good referral. I’ve been going to court for a very long time and have gone up against some good attorneys and some really bad ones! I feel really bad for the motorists that hire a weak attorney, and they end up losing in court. That means to me that they did not do their homework beforehand and it cost them more than what they bargained for.
The last thing is Experience
Make sure that the lawyer you hire has experience handling cases like yours in the past. I remember being in court with a lawyer and I thought he was trying a murder case. He had no clue about traffic law at all! I understand lawyers dabble in many areas of law but if traffic is not one they handle on a regular basis, they are not in a good position to advocate…for your best interest. By hiring a lawyer who is “in the know” will ultimately be of best interest to meet your legal needs.
