Nhan, Australian slang can be difficult to understand, but here are some tips: 1.You do not have to use slang yourself. 2. A lot of Australian slang is metaphor, e.g. "Nice weather for ducks" is wet weather. 3. Sometimes we shorten words, e.g. a refrigerator is a "fridge". 4. Older Anglo-Australians use expressions many other Australians don't use at all - if appropriate e.g. you are a doctor and they are a patient, ask them what they mean.

I've studied British English all my life, but I'm planing studying American English too. If I were you I'd be worried about the slangs and the idioms that Aussie use, (I think that they are completely different in any kind of English). I've realised that Australian Accent is completely different from the British and American, the tool to practice the accent would be the Internet, Remenber to use a good English dictionary and phrases like "could you reapeat that again?" can help you, I suppose so.

I will be studying in Sydney next month ... but I find Australian English is kind of difficult to understand because there are tons of slang words and Australian accent (for me) is quite flat. Could anyone give me any suggestion on ways to practice listening to Aussie English so as to overcome this problem ? I would be so grateful :)
