My only complaint about my 3.0 Duramax Chevrolet Silverado 1500. It's a great truck that tows great, but when I tow it, drinks DEF. Some advice for duramax owners. Never put any kind of additive in the def tank. I used Rislone additive and it messed up the def level gauge and sensor. The def tank had to be replaced. The tank is $600 and 5 hours labor to install. My warranty covered it because I didnt tell dealer I used def additive

The storage unit on my jobsite contains all the def I need. And that little truck sips def compared to the machines we run.

I’ve put DEF in maybe like twice in 9k miles for my 3 liter but you’re correct it’s never fun 😂

Mine barely burns any DEF. After reading around it seems like it burns more if you are towing.

The reason its cheaper is because its lower quality. I drive a semi, and I highly recommend the premium box def for nice pickups like that.

DEF fluid is the low flow toilet of the 2020s. Less water makes double flushing mandatory. Burning MORE fluid somehow creates cleaner air. Make it make sense, especially when you have to do an hour long parked regen.

Little tip my man. Whenever you fill up at the truck stop, take another gas can with you and put DEF in it. Mark it well with a marker tho.

Truck stop DEF is fresh, when you buy jugs at a store you're rolling the dice 🎲 .

Filling up at a truck stop sucks because of the splash back but it is much cheaper

I bought a 2024 trail boss 3.0 diesel. Absolutely love it. Got 9000 miles on it now. I’ve noticed that the warmer it Iis outside the less DEF I go through. In winter I was putting in a jug every week. Summer it barely goes down

Don’t worry it should break down any day then you won’t use as much DEF

Loved the beast and miss mine.. shredded idler pulley replaced, def/catalytic converter replaced by 45, 000 miles.. tranny blew at 58, 000 miles and then the def system again..lol 7 more times for updates and sensors 😅 wish I got a good one

Ok, I’m thinking my next truck is going to be a diesel truck how does DEF work do you have to put a certain amount and everytime you put diesel?
