Показать описание
A smaller field of view of the chromosphere reveals magnetic field structures in unprecedented detail - like the alternating dark and bright fibrils (thin, elongated magnetic features). The image covers an area of approximately 18,000 km x 18,000 km observed in the hydrogen-beta line from the Balmer series. The time span is 27 minutes. Image credit: NSO/AURA/NSF

What are we looking at here??? Is this real time or a time lapse? Whats the scale? What are the streaks? What’s the science, physics, chemistry happening? Do the observations match our models?
