You can also gasp like this when having an acute exacerbation of asthma, COPD, bronchitis and pneumonia; but not always. Your lungs are filled with fluid, you cough and cough, and can't catch a breath. You lips turn blue as you gasp due to low oxygen.

I am absolutely furious. I took the whopping cough vaccine and shortly after I got whooping cough. What sucks is I still have it. It's been over a month. I hope this doesn't last forever. I'm on month two now. :(
