Water by Design - Water Wise Street Trees

Healthy Land and Water - in partnership with local councils throughout Queensland - is embarking on a project to reinvent our street trees!

With a little extra thought about the design and a few pieces of pipe connecting the tree to the gutter, we can extend tree canopy up to tenfold as well as extending the potential lifespan of street trees way beyond what we see with traditional approaches. This low cost/high benefit solution also reduce our reliance on drinking water supplies and improves stormwater runoff quality and hydrology.
