If you're carrying and have a permit, should you tell the police officer, even if you don't have a duty to inform? I say, YES! If the officer does ask you to get out of the vehicle and does a brief pat down, chances are they will not appreciate finding a 🔫 on you. We have all seen videos of cops freaking out when they feel threatened, so the best thing to do is to get ahead of the situation and inform them if you are carrying. I suggest calmly telling them in the off chance they do ask you to step out of the vehicle.

In my state you're required to notify the stopping officer that you're carrying. No license necessary (constitutional carry, TG).

Pennsylvania v Mimms only states that an officer direct you out of vehicle if it is a LEGAL detainment. If the stop is not for a crime (or V&T infarction) then the detainment may not be legal and therefore the order to exit the vehicle may not be a lawful order.

its been my experience that cops know you have a CCP. and when they ask my reply is: I have a concealed carry permit in the State of Virginia and yes I am carrying....I have my hands in full view. This says I am a lawful citizen. this method has even gotten me many waring tickets. Once I had my weapon laying in the passenger seat when the cop comes to that side as we are on the interstate, I look at him and then looked at the seat and ask did he see my weapon. He seemed at ease and did not question me at all. I did get a ticket...

Its concealed. Who gives a shit. You have no obligation to disclose that information unless being arrested. The cips are going to overreact anyways. Especially if they are fishing instead of sticking to the purpose of the stop. Guarantee the purpose isnt to check your concealed permit cause he sees your gun....
