Why is there so many people in the comment section downgrading this Porto heroic conquest? Don't you know they won the UEFA Cup the previous year and they'd be a dangerous underdog in this 2003/04 season? Yes, Porto played with caution but it was the Champions League, the club was in financial dire straits and the players were worth a penny. But combined they turned into a fighting unit that wasn't easy to beat and we, FC Porto supporters, knew something big was about to come such was the confidence in our team and club. Those who lived it know; those who didn't, well you can enjoy the boring tiki-taka whilst you chew your popcorns.

I remember watching this at 5 am in Australia on a school day. By some weird quirk of fate I had a stomach bug which made me get up and watch TV in the lounge room. I didn't follow much football back then but after this I never stopped watching football. Great underdog story for both finalists!
