Yes: if one has not mapped the rocks adequately and if one does not understand the geological structure, but relies on geochemical soil and geophysical anomalies, only, to design one's initial drilling programme then one could have some angry shareholders on one's back as one's share price might become seen as less exciting. Regional, good quality prospect/lease mapping is essential and Australia's 1:250 000 to 1:100 000 scale geological maps are not adequate for that kind of job, although as reconnaissance maps they are valuable guides to broad possibilities. It might mean that one has to walk around on foot for 6-8 weeks but that is less-expensive than flying in a drill rig and drilling the first incorrect hole. As is a geochronological dating programme to ensure that one is drilling the rocks of the appropriate age.
