Tip #0: Maintain a constant and correct level of hydration in the leather. Too much or too little water reduces the quality of the stamping. Allowing the leather to evaporate causes inconsistencies as you work across the piece. This is particularly important when working near the edges of the leather.

"You have to slow down to be fast" is an actual very good advice that can be used in so many different contexts, it's a good thing to keep reminding yourself about that one !

Sometimes divots are good! When I do pine trees I intentionally make divots to create an uneven choppy shadow behind any individual pine needle. It also works great on grass and fur.

I have a very wide passion of crafts under my belt, and recently have become obsessed with leather goods. I really just wanted to upcycle a Louis Vuitton bag to create key chains and wallets from it. But I find myself wanting to do more. YouTube has been my source for most useful things I’ve done in life 😂 college education was a waste. Thank you for the very informative video 🫶🏽

Going over your beveled lines with a modeling spoon also helps.

Wow crazy this just randomly popped up. Glad to see Weaver still around and apparently still the staple of leather working. I remember catalogs from the 90s.

I have had quite a few leather tooling tools for a few years now but I haven't used any yet although I plan on using them soon to tool a leather tank panel and some leather to cover the handlebar grips. My main concern is getting nice looking smooth sweeping curves like you have here, those look nice. 👍

Since you are consistently hitting the tool does it need to be replaced often because it gets squished?

Hi! Newbie leather worker here, which weights of leather would you recommend using in order to have clean beveling designs?
