Phantasy Star Online 2 is a free-to-play online action role-playing game in the Phantasy Star series, developed and published by Sega. It was created as a successor to Phantasy Star Online and Phantasy Star Universe, Phantasy Star Online 2 features gameplay elements and aesthetics reminiscent of previous Phantasy Star games while incorporating a few unique twists on the formula. The first version was released for Windows in Japan in July 2012.

A PlayStation Vita version was released in February 2013, which was shut down in September 2020 (originally August 2020), while a PlayStation 4 version was released in April 2016. A spin-off/companion game, Phantasy Star Online 2 es was released for Android and iOS in 2014. A Nintendo Switch cloud version, entitled Phantasy Star Online 2 Cloud was released in April 2018 and then on PC, released in December 2018. At E3 2019, it was announced that the game would be releasing outside of Asia for the first time on the Xbox One and Windows in early 2020.

A massive updated and separate "shared universe" game, Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis[18] (Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis Cloudin the cloud version), was released on June 9, 2021.

I've been there in 2013 when the base PSO2 still pretty much bare bone, people throwing all sort of negativity like the game is dead and it's over, the update is slow and not really much to do in game.

The game surprisingly revived about two years later after some intense collaboration like with Fate series and other collaboration events.

I believe they gonna do the same with NGS, it's probably slowed down for now but as the developer keep adding things to it at some point when they devs feel the game is ready they gonna ride the wave of successful anime or games and advertise it in collaborative manner.

I believe due to unique nature of extreme customization of the game the developer can invest something in Hololive or Nijisanji community make some real good collaboratio, make V tuber play the game and they could rack up nice amount of additional new player, they could make something like Fate Grand order collaboration featuring new servant/character costume and accessories and advertised that in YouTube or something.

There is a lot of game PSO2 could capitalize like Azure lane, Kancolle, warship girls and the like, I think the developer is financially capable since they're powerful enough to get something like overlord collaboration already, my alliance have like 4 new player an utter newbie because they want to make Albedo two new player is V tuber simp one make Ina another is making Fubuki, the game could regularly take something for collaboration like chainsaw man for example I bet someone willing to make Makima or Kobeni in game.

With personal quarter I think someone would make megaproject like attempting to recreate undead citadel of Nazarick, with this level of customization you're right the only limit is your imagination.

Fashion contest in public would make this game become 18+ game, since half of female characters in game running around half naked, furries, BDSM and other Like titscopter or insane preggo Robofuta furries.
