In my opinion, the producer wants to make the details more into Barricade loves his police mode. It shows that Barricade loves to handcuff the humans to arrest them and make them surrender. As like slaves. It really makes sense and is fascinating to watch. The producer didn't miss even a single detail to make the movie awesome.❤

I even thought a while ago that the writers would cast Barricade as the Autobot police officer Prowl who became a Decepticon, perhaps due to some of Bumblebee's actions? I say this because when you see the two fighting, you can theorize that they are rivals or have some unfinished business, but these are just theories in my head.
