Sylvia and Sergio Cornejo have lived in Aberdeen for 25 years. They dedicated their time to working as school custodians.

On Nov. 10, they lost their home and all of their belongings to a fire. They only had the clothing on their backs when they narrowly escaped the fire.

The Cornejos have given so much to the community - especially the school community. Sergio was the head janitor in the high school, where he showed up every morning at 5 a.m. to ready the school for teachers and students. Sergio could also be seen at every sporting event long after everyone had left cleaning up the facilities.

Sylvia was the middle school janitor working the same hours alongside her husband until she became ill and had to retire. Last year Sergio retired to be at home caring for her. They have always gone above and beyond to help out.

Secret Santa asked the East Idaho News elves to track down the Cornejos in Aberdeen and give them an early Christmas gift. On our way to visit them, we learned they were at the movies with their family - so we stopped in and surprise them at the Blackfoot Movie Mill. Watch the video above!

It really doesn't matter what verbal language we speak, tears can often show immense gratitude. No doubt all of those extremely generous gifts will help lift some of their burden. ❤️🌲❤️

It's pretty awful losing everything you own in a fire; been there, done that. These people are clearly a blessing to their neighbors and friends. ❤

Gratitude and emotions doesnt need a language. Their faces says more than words.

Geez, a lot of people, who I can only assume is their family, in tears of happiness on this one, and the husband definitely had a hard time keeping it together, as he was so touched by such an outpouring of love by the one and only Secret Santa!
Thanks for helping out this kind couple!!

Sergio and wife are true recipent for what they got . Waking up that early to clean the school is fantastic. No matter what race they are we are all humans and accept it. Language does not mean a thing as there is always some one to help. Congrats.

Whoever this generous person is ... these beautiful stories have lifted me these last few difficult years. Thank you for showing us all these beautiful human beings, I can't imagine not being touched by their struggles and strength. These stories are helping to restore my hope and faith for us as brothers and sisters in The Lord.

My sons paternal grandparents are from Mexico, the grandfather initially came here undocumented to work very long hours farming in the 1960’s. He was deported a few times but finally got his citizenship in the early 1990’s. I’m so grateful to all who work so hard just to provide. May this couple continue to be blessed

CAN I GET A MILLION PEOPLE TO SAY GOD BLESS AMERICA AND GOD BLESS SECRET SANTA AND EAST IDAHO NEWS AND THEIR CREW?

Contrary to some peoples beliefs, Latinos are some of the most humble, hard working people in the world. These people are an example of the majority of mexican/Latinos that come to this country. I wanted to say that in the most respectful, non argumentative way possible, even considered NOT saying it at all, but even though I meant it to be a commentary of the humility of my community, knowing some could take it as meant to be divisive, I saw a comment saying “I hope the other people with them don’t take advantage of them or steal their gifts”, and it reminded me that even in beautiful moments like this, some people can really be ignorant. I’m proud of my community. And I’m so grateful and happy that people like Secret Santa, East Idaho News, Nate and co, and of the people commenting are good people. Peace and love to us all. Even the negative people. I wish the best for you.

Knowing that someone out there cares enough to help people when they've lost everything, makes me cry. It reminds me that there are still generous and good-hearted people out there willing to help. Blessings on Secret Santa for blessing others.

The tears are falling again. Omg this poor couple, what a terrible thing to happen.
Hopefully they can rebuild and with Secret Santa’s help can get some new things for their home. Unfortunately no amount of money will replace lost photos and memories but with any luck they can make many new and happy memories in their new home.
Blessings from Australia 🇦🇺
🙏😊❤️

I really cried with this one. Having lost my house in fire I cant explain how hard it is to lose everything and have to start over again. This took a world of stress off of them.
