Absolute vs Relative reference - Excel VBA Programming Course: Lesson 7

Welcome to Excel Vba Programming Course Lesson: 7. I’m your trainer kazi and this is Excel 10 Tutorial. In this lesson we are going to understand absolute reference and relative reference.

Absolute Reference is something where macro is concerned with a specific cell or specific location. No matter what happens its going to focus on that cell. Suppose you enter a value in cell B2 then the macro will always enter the value in cell B2. That's absolute reference.

Relative reference in macro focuses more on the procedure or journey to a cell or location. For example if you record a macro that goes one cell right and enter a value with relative references than the the macro will focus on the procedure. It will not indicate any certain cells or location but it will find out its present location and than move to the next cell and enter the value.
