What I'd like to see is a claw back of profits. If stock holders made profit from gun or ammunition manufacturers take that profit away and give it to the survivors of gun violence. It's the right thing to do. At the very least. If I had my way those who profit from this industry would go to jail for a long long time.

Let's update this to "The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a bigger gun... Who's better trained, knows the attacker, has superpowers..., ". While we're at it we should also update school teachers' job descriptions and risks in applications.
