I come from where this company allegedly built this tower. And I can assure you that there is only an ordinary construction crane that stacks about 7-8 concrete blocks. Not automatically but controlled by one person. And this is intended to attract investors who are stupid enough to invest in this project…. Like the narrator said “unbelievable”

Friction is the enemy of this kind of system.
Motors, gearboxes, cables, more gears. All needing constant lubrication and even with perfect lubrication a great deal of friction will be created.
It's a novel idea but I am not sure it would be efficient enough to be effective energy storage.

I seen this idea in the 1980s, people always forget about friction and heat. It'll be more efficient to use a hydraulic ram pump to move water uphill into a reservoir and then let the water flow downhill to generate electricity
