This crossmember is a pain when tring to install a transmission that doesn't utilize it! Honestly it’s just in the way. I’ll show you how I decided to handle it

Looks a lot easier with the motor out doing this. Interesting fact is the old 3spd transmission does have the bolt holes to use a trans cross member. I did this to prepare for my swap. I’m trying to keep mine running the entire time up to putting the lm7 in.

Looking forward to seeing all the lessons you will learn and helping me get through my LS swap.

Funny enough, I'm doing the reverse of this. My truck was originally a 307/3 on the tree, and was swapped to a th350 when papaw bought it in the 90's, and I'm putting it back original with the 3 on the tree. Luckily he kept all the manual parts he removed including the steering column

You said you pulled the Chevy 400 and turbo 350 out of there. Does this mean that if you have a Chevy in-line 6 with a manual 3-speed using the stock crossmember, I can install a th350 with the Chevy inline 6 and still use the stock transmission crossmember?
