Sheer magic. I was 13 when this came out, and it strongly re-awakens the flavours of the time in my memory. Back when I knew nothing of the troubles of the world and everything seemed simple. Tastes good.

It’s so rare for the entire band to have the ability to sing and play instruments. Such a dream team.

As a musician, I can't even begin to tell you how harmonically complex, interesting and clever this song is, all without it being obvious to the listener. There's a *lot* of clever chords and things underneath the vocals and hand claps and it took a loooong time to work out an arrangement for guitar. Most pop songs are so easy I don't even need to pick one up to work them out, but that's a sign of how sophisticated and brilliant it is. We need more music like this.

The first verse is exactly how it was with me. I met her and a week later I went back to my unit in W Germany and here we are, just closing in on our 51st Wedding Anniversary!

Things I love about this song:
1. The 50s stylings
2. The harmonic sophistication, including that memorable sidestep at 2:58
3. The drum track - generated from handclaps and wall pounding
4. The glory of the backing vocals
5. The sax solo - that is how you do it
6. Andrew's gorgeous voice

A song that Foo Fighters Dave Grohl called “the most beautiful piece of music ever written”, and one that always takes me back to my seventies childhood.

Great song. The others in the video were his backing band at the time (drummer Stanley Kipper, bassist Bryan Garofalo, guitarist George Marinelli and keyboardist Brock Walsh). Keyboard is the classic string synth ARP Omni on the synthesizer setting.

This song takes me back to being a happy little kid in the 70s, and hanging out with my big sister (who is still around I should add), like no other.

Lyrically speaking its not a good fit for a brother / sister song lol - but there you go. Its the sounds, its apparent simplicity, that keyboard refrain, the backing vocals, the drums and hand claps, that link directly to the memories, and the simple days.

And it came on in a Subway sandwich shop the other day and it was all I could do to not burst into tears right there. Just come inside and stuck this on, and sobbed for those far off days.

I'm only 53.... And this is possibly the most wholesome, lovely song I aware of.

It's certainly perfect.

This song reminds me of Phillipa, I was maybe 14, when the song came out, I was so shy, my first real crush, gypsy skirts, granny boots, that was the fashion for girls then. I can still see her, long black hair and deep brown eyes. I heard from old school friends, she lost her battle with cancer last year. Maybe we can meet again, as we were then, in the next life...

Utterly glorious. Ernie's sax solo is just exquisite. Backing vocals by Andrew Gold, JD Souther and apparently an uncredited Freddie Mercury... its just beautiful. I've always adored this song and I always will.

Two days ago I married my best friend and now my beautiful wife and this was the song playing during our first dance; a beautiful moment to compliment this timeless song. Thank you Andrew Gold!

Sweet memories of being 19yrs old, I weep for my youth but I had fun but it has had flown too fast, I've loved, lost, and gave birth to my Son ❤ I'm 65 this week, so many have gone before me that never reached my age. So I'm happy to be listening to this fabulous song by a fantastic singer. Thankyou Andrew God bless. ❤
