Marvel Rivals Latest News: Huge Season 1 Update with New Heroes, Skins, and Battle Pass Details!

What it do, Durag Nation? Marvel Rivals is kicking off 2025 with some incredible updates for Season 1, and I’m here to break it all down for you. Whether you’re hyped about Deadpool, Ghost Rider, Emma Frost, or even Thanos joining the roster, or you’re grinding for the next set of MCU skins, this video has everything you need to prepare for the next big phase of Marvel Rivals.
What’s Coming in Season 1?

🎮 Season 1 Launch Date:
Mark your calendars—Season 1 drops on January 9th, and it’s bringing a fresh set of maps, gameplay updates, and some exciting new characters. With Season 0 wrapping up, the devs have confirmed that each season will last about 3 months, giving us plenty of time to enjoy the new content.

🦸‍♂️ New Heroes Arriving in Season 1:
Season 1 is shaping up to deliver even more iconic Marvel characters to the roster. The devs have teased a mix of Vanguards, Strategists, and more Duelists, with some big names like Deadpool, Ghost Rider, Emma Frost, and Thanos potentially making their debut. Deadpool is already a fan favorite, and Ghost Rider’s arrival could heat things up—literally. I’ve also got some speculation on how Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet could work as his ultimate ability. Imagine snapping half the enemy team off the map!
Season 1 Skins and MCU Content:

🎨 Lunar New Year Skins:
The first batch of Lunar New Year skins includes Moon Knight’s Lunar General and Squirrel Girl’s Cheerful Dragoness, available starting January 2nd. These skins look absolutely amazing and set the bar high for what’s to come. Based on past events, we’re likely to see even more Lunar-themed skins added throughout the season.

🎥 MCU Skins:
The devs have been killing it with MCU skins, and there are still several characters who haven’t gotten theirs yet. Personally, I’m hoping for Captain America’s Winter Soldier outfit, and maybe even something from Marvel’s What If? If they bring in Evil Doctor Strange, it’s an insta-buy for me.
Season 1 Battle Pass and Chrono Tokens Explained:

💰 Battle Pass Changes:
Season 1 brings a brand-new Battle Pass, and the devs clarified how the Chrono Tokens system works. While free tokens will expire at the end of each season, any tokens purchased with Lattice (premium currency) will carry over. This ensures you can use them for rewards next season if you don’t finish the current pass in time.

The Battle Pass remains a great value, offering never-expiring rewards for just $10 per season. With the extended 3-month timeline for Season 1, you’ll have plenty of time to grind for all the awesome cosmetics and extras.
Balancing and Competitive Updates:

⚙️ Nerfs & Buffs:
The devs have been actively balancing the game to keep it fresh and competitive. Wolverine might finally get some survivability buffs, and there are rumors of adjustments for Iron Fist and Hawkeye, two characters many players think are overpowered.

Ghost Rider's Ult should be him getting on his motorcycle and being able to knock enemies back with it while leaving a flame trail that does damage over time even after leaving it

I hope they add Cable. He has a lot of potential between his many super powers (energy based attacks, an energy shield, teleportation, telekinesis, health regeneration, illusions, and telepathy among other powers) and the guns and spear he uses. He'd be a very interesting Vanguard, and he's my most wanted character for Marvel Rivals by a huge margin.

Yeah, I don't think that role queue is a good idea for this game, ESPECIALLY this early. Role queue was one of the big reasons why I quit Overwatch, because while I enjoy playing Reinhardt and Baptiste, I was a Reaper main, and I could never be able to play him because of role queue. If you want to have a balanced, competitive team, grab some friends to do it with you, or make some friends.

Ultron was supposedly meant to come at launch but was replaced with cnd and iron fist so i'll be extremely surprised if they dont be adding ultron in season 1

Cable (Vanguard)
R2 - Pulse Rifle/Grenade Launcher. Pressing Triangle to switch out from the two similar to The Punisher.
L1- Telekinetic AOE Blast that launches enemies in the air.
R3- Psimitar 3 hit melee attack similar to Namor.
Circle- Aerial Psimitar Strike similar to Captain America's Super-Soldier Slam.
L2- Telekinetic Shield similar to Dr Strange that when broken can still be held up at the cost of his HP draining.
R1- Body Slide for movement ability similar to Magik that can place a future self in starting place that fires Pulse Rifle.
Ultimate- Messiah Cable form(the form that battled against Silver Surfer) that unleashes Telekinetic Energy Waves forward with his hands that inflicts damage while pushing enemies back and deflecting projectiles.
Passive- Techno Organic Virus. When above 80% HP his Telekinetic AOE Blast has a greater radius and damage and his Telekinetic Shield is more durable. Below 40% HP his Telekinetic abilities are unusable but gains a HP boost and Pulse Rifle/Grenade Launcher and Psimitar attacks do slightly more damage.
Team Up Ability- (if Deadpool gets added too) Deadpool gains the ability to use Body Slide.
