I don't think it was the force trying to turn him back to the darkside, that would contradict the fact that Anakin had to turn to the darkside to bring balance. If anything, I would say it was a test brought about by the kyber crystal itself

Anikin was given multiple visions about the future that all ended up becoming true. Which only goes to prove Vader could have redeemed himself and became the hero to bring balance. After this point I'm sorry no one can claim Anikin was a victim. Dude literally was given a vision which all have come true up to this point and he just ignores it and stays evil.
