Oh my goodness!! This is such a blessing. It had become quite hard to play my MPK249 because some of the notes (no matter how soft I played them) would have a higher velocity than normal. The Velocity Processor in the MIDI FX completely fixed that issue IMMEDIATELY. And it was nice to know that I did not need to have any MIDI notes recorded before it worked. PERFECT! Thanks! Now, I will check out the other 6 tips. LOL!

SO great. The 'compress velocity' trick is SUPER clutch for my current project. Thank you!

I love this channel. I'm classically trained like you, so all your tips really help me. In college, my composition classes were all manuscript paper and pencil. I'm learning all I can in Logic.

I haven't even finished watching this yet but I just came here to say THANKS: straight to the point, crystal clear information, this is all a producer seeking for knowledge wants when they go on Youtube for info/answers/insights.

Just started using Logic again. I didn't know about these velocity, compression and dynamic range tips. Thanks so much

I know it's been awhile since you posted this but it just proved very useful to me for the Velocity Processor which made the inexpensive 88 key "semi weighted" keyboard into a much more lively and interesting keyboard to play - it was just impossible to get the dynamics I wanted. It's still not weighted but now it's usable. Thank you.

how do you change the velocity of a single long note? Say I want the note to begin quietly and rise as the note is played, but I want to use velocity and not volume?

Wow! This video saved my life. I am recording an excellent pianist that always plays with a huge dynamic range which, of course, is really hard to get translated to various media without compression or EQ artifacts. Though I don't like the idea of having to tamp down the dynamic range of her work, I really don't have much choice - especially if much of her music is going to be streamed over cell phones. It's either tamp down the range of midi velocities and have no compression artifacts or tamp down the audio range with compression and suffer the artifacts. I'll choose the former. Thanks for the vid Mike.

Love the compression trick by pulling velocity and dragging slider back up. Thanks!
