Spanish Stonehenge Uncovered: Granite Monoliths Engraved with Serpents | Ancient Architects

A 4-5,000-old-year stone monument, with 144 standing blocks of granite, each more than 6 feet tall, has been uncovered at the bottom of a reservoir in Spain, and only because of a year-long draught.

The site, known as Dolmen de Guadalperal, has been dubbed the ‘Spanish Stonehenge’ but although the stones are smaller than Britain’s iconic structure, in Spain they are more numerous. They are arranged in circles but their history and origins are somewhat of a mystery.

For a number of months, western Spain has been ravaged by a drought, exposing the large granite megaliths for the first time in more than 50 years.

But the site isn’t actually a new discovery, with the German priest and amateur archaeologist, Hugo Obermaier discovering it in 1925, although the Romans were also thought to be aware of the site. Watch the video to learn more about this exciting ancient find.

What kind of idiocy drives the idea behind moving the stones? They are a historical artifact because of where they are, placed there by the ancients. Move them and they are nothing more than a bunch of rocks.
We have the technology to photograph them, scan them and model them. We can do all that and use the results to study them all we like. We don't need to move them to study them. Leave them where they are for posterity to find again and wonder at them.

This is what's wrong with modern archaeology...these stones have just been "rediscovered" and already deemed as a place of sun worship? Why does every single thing (according to mainstream) have to be a temple of worship? I seriously doubt that all these people had to do was go around gathering stones so they could "worship" something. I think survival might have been equally or more critical and time consuming. They're sure stuck in a rut while our history is blurred at best. If it weren't for great presentations like this one, we'd never even have a clue. Keep up the good work - I look forward to every new segment

Megaliths of this type were prolific — throughout Europe. They were constructed by the same Neolithic farmers that were subsequently displaced (50% in Iberia and 95% in the U.K.) by subsequent invasions of the Bell Beakers (Proto-Celts from the east).

DNA evidence shows that the European Megalith Builders have been on the Western coast of Europe for about 25 thousand years. That is about twice the age of the Gobekli Tepi site.
