Kevin McGurn - Constructing the Modern Media Company

Peter Chernin is widely considered one of the smartest and most powerful media executives in the world. His illustrious career has spanned print publishing, television and cinema production. His board seats include; American Express, Twitter, Pandora and is Chairman of the Chernin Group which he founded in 2009. In September of last year, the Chernin Group formed a $500 million funded joint venture with AT&T to create Otter Media and take a majority stake in the Multi-Channel Network powerhouse, Fullscreen. Otter, as in “Over The Top,” is an internet-delivered video service. Quietly, Mr. Chernin has been constructing a modern media company through key acquisitions that will fit together…somehow.

We caught up with Kevin McGurn who just joined Fullscreen & Otter Media as head of sales. Kevin knows a little something about building a modern media business as he was in a leadership sales role at Hulu from its inception back in 2007. Kevin sheds some light on how these businesses will play together, along with other future acquisitions to construct a new media company in the digital age.
