Acanmul

We go off track and Indiana Jones it. The seldom visited ruins of Acanmul lay unexcavated in the yucatan forest. Although over grown with trees, the remnants of a once great city can be seen. A Pyramid exists however as with so many mayan ruins, the face stones have long since been pillaged, used by the colonials to build their great buildings and haciendas. Piles of rubble stones lie on the ground, not fit for the recycling. It is hard not to think while visiting places like this, what will be left of our current society for future generations to discover?
