Dare County released the third segment of On the Job, featuring Dare County EMS Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Matt Munden. Join host Rich Coleman, as he rides along in one of Dare County’s ambulances and talks to Munden, a Hatteras Island resident and Dare County EMS employee for the last four years. Munden talks about his love for the job and what he encounters on the road when responding to a call.
Dare County EMS has over 140 full-time and part-time employees who respond to calls staffing 11 ambulances, one aeromedical helicopter and three quick response vehicles. In 2018, Dare County EMS were dispatched to 9,386 calls, including 341 MedFlight missions; on average over 25 calls per day. In the County’s 2019/2020 Capital Improvement Plan, approximately $1.5 million has been set aside for new mobile data computers, cardiac monitors, defibrillators and cardiac compression devices. Outfitting the EMS fleet with the latest technology will ensure paramedics and EMT’s can continue to provide high-quality, cutting-edge patient care.
