I’m not saying there isn’t a flawed design, but just saying my 2007 Ford Edge has 295, 000 miles and still runs and I’ve never had this issue.

That Ford lawsuit being dismissed reminds of words in a old Stones song.
"Judge and jury walking out hand in hand".

The water pump is probably designed to fail right after the warranty expires.

Every vehicle manufacturer should consult with Scotty first before introducing anything new.

I bought my 2007 Ford Edge SE in 2013 with 43K miles on it with one owner. Aside from normal maintenance, this car has been solid and reliable. I'm on 160K right now, but watching this video just scared me knowing that the water pump is inside the engine 😳! I pray I don't get jinxed because I have a lot of respect for my Edge; it's been a good boy!

An aside to this: The water pumps often fail on the 3.5 liter V6 engines up to model year 2011. The later build date 11s and all 12s and later have an updated part that supposedly lasts the life of the vehicle, though the design remains the same. A relative has a very late build date 2011 Explorer with 230, 000 miles and it's on the original water pump.

That pump usually last around 250, 000 miles and that engine has a rated service life of 500, 000 miles. One of the best engines on the road, that's why it's in a lot of First Responders vehicles.

You forgot to mention the heated tail gate feature in fords. That way your hands won't freeze when you are pushing it back to the dealership.

I have an old 1995 Ford Explorer that my parents gave me. It now has more than 370, 000 miles on it. It never gives us problems and it drives better than our newer late-model vehicle. The only money that we spend on it is in changing the fluids regularly.

I work at Ford. This is true. The 3.5 v6 is notorious for leaking water pumps. Just replacing is 8hours and ya gotta drop the motor. Stay clear.

Yes, I had one of these engines. I didn't realize it when I bought the vehicle, but I soon sold it and bought a vehicle with an external water pump.

I own a 2012 Taurus SHO with the twin turbo 3.5L. I have never had any issues with it, and it is quite reliable. Has 145, 000 miles on the clock.

Why do these engineers try to keep reinventing the wheel?

I can see it now. People trying to sell their used ford with the words ( Only needs a water pump ) in the description. Lol
