The 68000 on the amiga was too weak for a parallel CDROM drive, however, the IEEE of the instruction set corresponding to the ieee1284 on subsequent 68030 (and higher - especially if aided by the FPU, maybe even if using a 68020) should be able to run a CDROM drive on an amiga (e.g. an a500 with an accelerator). A raspberry PiZero GPIO (with some adaptation) and usage of the usb with some connectors could be used to allow a usb CDROM drive to plug into the parallel port of such an amiga. Eventually, this really needs to be done IMO (especially so as to allow for booting CDTV games, even if a CDBoot style software like the a1200 had is required - e.g. so as to piggyback-boot either from Fd0 and Fd1, or to search the boot-sequence of HD0 early on for CDROM universal drivers). The megaCD recently had a emulator made for it as per the RetroRGb channel video with iACMZfhx1Ms as the YT watchlink.

Is the cable just a standard DB25 Male to Female extension? Got one of these sans the cable.
