How a high school coach took his case for religious freedom to the Supreme Court

In theaters now is the movie “Average Joe." It is the story of high school Coach Joe Kennedy’s battle for religious freedom.

Kennedy says that he was fired for taking a knee in prayer after his team’s high school football games, and he took his case to the Supreme Court.

"If you are planning on going to see the movie Average Joe, about the football coach, please realize that it is not the true story of his childhood. The abusive one was him. I was physically abused by him my entire childhood. The damage done to me by him goes far beyond the bruises and fear caused by him my whole childhood. I never fought back once because I was that scared of him. I don’t think I took a full breath until he was sent to the flying h boys ranch due to his issues. I’m his little sister and we lived our childhoods together, so I do know what I’m talking about. The last time he spoke to me was the two things he said to me at my uncles wedding in 2000 “I know YOU want to get to the buffet” and “I can’t believe they are letting you breed.” I was almost 30 and his words cut so deep I hear them in my ears now. So go to the movie if you want, but realize this is the person you are supporting.
