What an interesting comparison.

I am a complete novice to CNC/laser - I literally took delivery of my first 3018 ver2 yesterday :) I came across your channel in the obvious way but am very glad that I did! I find your content to be very useful, serious and without the usual hyper-enthusiasm and selling that you see on many (if not most) channels.

It's probably an age thing.... I qualify for one of those "retired" signs ;) hahah

Very best wishes from Warsaw, Poland and many thanks!

Nice video. Another option is to use the laser to cut a pattern for a handheld router with the rough cut with a jig saw. I have done this for larger projects.

My scroll saw has been sitting idle as the laser has been handling most of that type of work until recently. I had a project where a CNC router, a scroll saw, and the laser had different roles to play. I had some parts the charring from the laser, even if it was light, would've been a distraction in the completed piece. Nice comparison video. Note: I have also used the scroll saw to finish cutting poorly cut parts on the laser, but that happened more with a 5W laser than it does with my 10W I have now.

Since you are using plywood why not just cut two identical "front" pieces out of 3/8" or three 1.4" plywood with the laser and glue them up?

Why on earth would you specify 3/4" ply for any of it?
