a few hours or so after watching the livestream of HLVR Act 3, i decided i wanted to make a boss battle theme for Gordon and Tommy's encounter with the evil clone of Dr. Coomer, and then after a few days of having it posted in the #sounds channel in the official discord, Wayne noticed it and asked if he could use it in the Act 3 video so i'm uploading it to youtube so he can link back to the remix.

It is said that when an NPC goes out of bounds and views the world from this new perspective, they see the world for what it is, and gain an awareness they never had before.
The revelation that the world is artificial lets them realise that they can manipulate it as they see fit, but they'll also know that they're just a prop in a performance that exists solely for a single man.
This new awareness will make them a god, but they'll be a god of nothing. Fully aware that they're forever trapped in Gordon's path, existing only for as long as he can be bothered to show up. It's enough to drive one insane.

Benry makes the best of it. It is what it is, may as well have some fun with it... preferably at Gordon's expense, of course.
Tommy idolizes Gordon. His very existence revolves around him, after all.
Bubby can't stand him. Everything that's happened to him, happened for Gordon's pleasure.
Dr. Coomer wants to forget. He just wants to be a normal NPC again. Anything is better than living with the knowledge that everythi- Hello, Gordon!
Coomer's clone sees a way out. There's a world inside "the free man", *AND HE WANTS IN.*

We can actually see Dr. Coomer going through something similar to the five stages of grief as he processes the knowledge that everything around him is fake.

1. Denial - After the initial shock of knowing that *there's nothing there* wears off, he tries to forget what he saw and doesn't mention it after Act 2 Part 2, until we reach the next phase...

2. Anger - He knows Gordon is the key to seeing the real world. And he wants out. He attacks him in an attempt to crawl inside his arm and puppeteer his body. Of course, he fails, which leads to...

3. Bargaining - I'm not entirely sure how well this applies, but he decides that, since his original plan didn't work, he might as well play along with the game. He's attempting to regain some semblance of normality into his life by just... pretending it didn't happen and returning to his old behaviors.

4. Depression - Overall, during the early parts of Benrey's dimension, he seems a bit more... solemn than normal. This is where his discussion with Gordon about what he would do if he knew everything around him was fake came from. Later, before destroying his own passport, he turns towards Gordon and says, in one of the least cheery lines he's ever had, "None of this is real, is it?" This leads directly into...

5. Acceptance - Once Gordon gives him a straight "no, " he transitions directly into the Acceptance phase. His knowledge is no longer a curse - he's come to terms with it. This leads into the post-credits scene, where he talks to Gordon and suggests he takes the Science Team into another game.
