Maddie didn't get this gig because of her fame. She did this long before her work with Sia, and was only slightly known for dance moms. She did a solo to this on dance moms, and the singer loved it so wanted it to appear in the video, hence why she got picked.

 i fell in love with Maddie's dancing ability. I never liked this kind of dancing, but Maddie changed that. I first saw her in Chandalier, by Sia. At first, I thought it was a wierd video. This is making me sad cause I’m watching this in 2023 and I remember when Maddie was so tiny and young and now she’s all grown up. I remember when she first started dance moms that was her first solo that she did it makes me cry to think about how she was 12 years ago
