Dude... Thank you for freeing me from that matrix lie I was in.

I think stun grenades are basically like regular grenades but without shrapnel and splash damage. It just explodes and concusses the target and disorients.

Stun grenades, also known as concussive grenades, use a sudden shockwave to throw off your balance and slightly deafen you. Flash grenades on the other hand, add to this with a louder bang and a bright magnesium flash to blind anyone looking at it, as such taking away two of the most vital senses

True ogs well know that the stun grenades were once called concussion grenades

Pretty sure stun grenades represent concussion grenades and I’m not sure it’s the same as a flash bang

Bassicly a stun grenade is an explosive that doesn't kill and flashbang is about 7 times louder then a gun shot making the opponent not being able to hear and at the same time distract them.

A stun is basically a flash and a decoy combined, you can’t see and you don’t know which direction to move because the damn thing keeps popping everywhere and the sound is obnoxious so the “can’t move” effect is basically the feeling it gives you instead of anything that actually holds you down

I wish they brought back the 9-Bang from CoD Ghosts and disabled Tac Mask permanently.

Well imagine how OP it would’ve been had they combined the effects and just gave us a realistic one

Realistically, any grenade or artillery in cod games or any game should produce that ring sound that flash bangs make in every damn game, because its caused by the super loud bang which leaves your ears ringing, any explosion can do that

TL/DR: Stun Grenades are impact detonated and use sound to f*ck you up while flash grenades are time detonated and use light.

Concussion grenades(stun grenades) use sound to disorient someone while flash grenades use blinding light to do so. They’re both triggered by an explosion and both grenades are typically cased in steal to prevent shrapnel from flying everywhere. There’s also the difference of a timed detonation versus impact detonation. Most flash bangs have timed detonations like an M67 frag. Concussion grenades usually detonate on impact 1 second after the grenade hits the target.

Stuns are like frags with no shrapnel, but the loud bang it makes goes into our ears, and destabilises out labirynt fluid, wich leads to loss of stability, slowing us down, making it easier for us to fall down. Also the shockwave from the explosion increases the pressure of fluid inside of our eyes, causing temporary blurrying of vision

the point to a stun granade is to make the person at least blink or get detered by the stun its self while being pushed. with a flashbang, although it is stronger and brighter it is more meant to temporarily try to blind people as well as being disorienting by sound as well.

they are different but the terms are often confusing. the equivalent to a stun grenade would most closely be something like the MK3, which injures those within enclosed spaces with a shockwave from the explosion with minimal fragmentation. This would prevent someone from really being able to move, while a flashbang is meant to make ears ring and overload the sensors in the eyes, temporarily making a victim blind and possibly deaf. the previously used term of "concussion grenade" in the older cod games is a better description of the MK3, though that gets muddy too because the concussion grenade models back then look like flashbangs lol

Stun grenades are the same but the stun is designed to affect your inner ear for balance ie it stuns you and your balance/situational awareness it also blind you temporarily. Flash is similar but it is designed to blind and deafen but it can also cause the balance issues as well. It really messes your sense of balance up it's a bit like closing your eyes and going 360 on a chair.
Stun grenade is far more powerful louder and the blind is way more powerful it can burst your ear drum and blind you for a while. The flash is more of a distraction device.

There is such a thing as Stinger grenades which eject typically either .32 or .60 cal rubber balls at high velocity, as well as dispersing light, sound, and even CS gas. they are meant to incapacitate, or "stun, " combatants. I always figured stun grenades in CoD games were referring to these.

In black ops 2 they were called concussion grenades but effectively they had a brief flash with the noise itself imparting your character temporarily.

I think it's possible that despite functionally being the same you can have different ones that either emphasize the sound (that causes disorientation & destructions) or you can emphasize both the flash & the noise

Although people interchange the terms flash bang and stun grenade there is considerable difference. As a member of a Police special operations team and training with Special Forces you have the opportunity to use both. The essential difference is that a flash bang is usually a distraction grenade that has 3 to 7 reports (explosions) each accompanied with a flash. They are loud (about 120 decibels) and distracting but nowhere near the devastation of a stun grenade. A stun grenade has one huge explosion of up to 185 decibels and an 11 million candlepower flash from powdered material. This explosion if used in anything other than a huge room ruptures eardrums and causes temporary blindness from the flash. Offenders, usually terrorists who have trained with these devices are said to be able to respond in about 6 seconds. However that is all responding specialist units needs to either disarm in incapacitate an offender. The responding units will need to have extremely effective hearing protection whilst using stun grenades as continual use in training and on operations will lead to eventual hearing degradation.
