DJI Avata - How you can fly without your phone on the new firmware (RemoteID Workaround)

I should probably put more emphasis on the fact that if you do this you should make sure your home point is set before you actually take off, make sure you don't just fly away before that happens.

I have used this for a while and it works but only on the first battery. After I try to do a second battery it doesn’t work. Apparently it keeps some kind of memory or something somewhere. I disconnect headset and Avata batteries, tun off the controller and still doesn’t work.

Have you/anyone done any workaround on this?

Remote ID has really soured me on flying. I have no interest in my position being broadcast to bad actors in the clear.
But I guess that was the point - clear the skies of all hobbyist to make room for commercial endeavors.

Just unplug the phone after you’re in flight. I accidentally dropped the phone and it unplugged but my Avata kept going as normal.

If you crash and need to restart the motors do you need to plug phone in at that point?

As soon as the video shows in the goggles I have the RI error. I have no "short window" to start the motors.

Problem with this: GPS modules learn within the first about 12 minutes the present satellite configuration (exact time, positions, directions, speed) and save these into an internal memory. This is called cold start. After first battery you may consider all satellite data (almanach, emphemerides) pinpoint exact. So the next power cycle the GPS module reads the exact satellite data from flash and if the drone is under a clear hemisphere of the sky will get the position fix within few seconds. I would assume it will be so fast that when the video feed starts the fix will be there giving no chance to start the motors then.
I am curious if this will be the case. Test inhouse is not the scenario you will get under a clear sky with lots of satellites in direct view.

I ran into an issue outside. I used my phone to make remote Id happy. Started the motors unplugged the phone and the motors stopped. I'm like dang. Hooked up the phone started the motors took off and unplugged the phone and the motors stayed running. I will try firing up the motors before GPS lock.

I’ve been told if you have the goggles v2 you don’t need to plug in your phone. Only if you have the newer goggles this happens. Seems I’m wrong about that tho

Cool. Go try outside . Maybe it does work for flying indoor without GPS. But I would be very surprised that it does work outdoor as well. Thanks.

Remote ID is absolutely horrible. I now have to worry about managing one more device, one more cable, and one more battery I have to keep charged up. I am so disappointed. Is there a way I can disable it completely?
