In 2019, as the Verda Platform team prepared to offer cluster upgrade functionality to our users, we found existing solutions of some open-source software don't meet our requirements for cluster upgrade functionality in terms of security and flexibility, and zero-downtime on the application side. In that case, the Verda Platform team decided to develop our own Kubernetes cluster upgrade solution based on Rancher.

Ran Xu has been working as an infrastructure engineer since 2017 to develop the high-availability database application on Kubernetes platform. In 2019, Xu started the development/operation of a large-scale Managed K8s Service by using Rancher in LINE. At present, as the leader of Reliability Committee Group inside VKS team, Xu focuses on improving the reliability of the platform of LINE Managed K8s Service.
