Metallica - Screaming Suicide (Old-school Metallica tone)

This is a full instrument cover of Metallica's new song "Screaming Suicide" made by me, using tone and mixing techniques to get as close as possible to the sound of the legendary old metallica tones like Ride The Lightning, Master of Puppets, AJFA!

*Please note that the style and direction of this song is very different from the actual Ride The Lightning style, combined with the fact that I don’t have a million dollar studio at my disposal, this is not meant to sound like it belongs on the RTL album, or 100% match the tone, the idea is to get as close as possible and I think it very much sounds like the classic Metallica tone. Maybe a combination of their first 4 records, but it sounds like RTL the most.

- I used Amplitube 5 for the guitar tones, Marshall JCM900 amp + TubeScreamer.
- Superior Drummer 3 RTL Preset.
- EZ Bass for bass tone + parallel processing.

I would argue people who say the old tones are dated are missing the point.I would agree this song does not fit this tone as this song is more of the modern slower hybrid reload/hardwired style, but in my opinion the new tones are overdone. Sure they're polished and tight, but there's magic in the rawness and unique sound of the old albums.
If coca cola doesn't need to change neither does thrash metal production. Thats not to say im against change or newer albums, but in my opinion the production on old metallica(any old music) absolutely blows modern music away. Humans are not perfect, I dont need over compressed drums, I dont want over polished mixing, I want RAW thrash metal! Bad recordings, slightly off playing, drums slightly dry, bass with distortion, screaming vocals, amd most importantly speed.

I like these types of videos. They prove that their new songs are sometimes just as good as the classics minus the nostalgia.

I like it it’s really cool but I prefer the original and it would be cool if you added James Hetfield’s voice in the 80s in this version

the point of this is not tryng for them to be the old school, but that they do sound old school, just people can't be pleased by anything metallica does lately.

You should make an And Justice For All version! There is also some guys on YouTube you can find that have really good James Hetfield vocals from that Era
