Flosstube: Ornamentations #42 - The Really Big Finish

Показать описание
Ornamentations (noun): 2. That in which the process of ornamenting is embodied; the ornaments which adorn a thing collectively; ornament in general
Or, in music, the grace notes that embellish a melodic line.

Santa Stops Here will be available as the Christmas in July flosstube kit, release date to be announced closer to the time.

Plum Street Samplers' Summer Hill, worked on Legacy Linen 38 count Irish Coffee with the following threads:
100/3: 152, 718
Gobelins: 544, 2541, F02, Creme
You could easily drop out Creme and replace it with F02 if you don't want to buy three off white silks, although it is very useful to have a full shading of neutrals in your stash.

I can't recommend COC II: Stumpwork highly enough if you have any interest as it is far and away the most comprehensive study of stumpwork, particularly needlelace.

My mirror has 182 separately worked pieces that were then attached to the ground fabric, ranging from silk applique to beadwork to traditional needlelace in a variety of threads and stitches.

I agree with the person who thinks the big snowflake in the upper right corner is the sun. It reminds me of the "last snow of the season"-flowers like daffodils are very resilient! This is early Spring in my mind. Lovely!

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful mirror with all of us. It was very generous of you to point out your mistake to us so that we could learn from it. I would leave the snowflakes as I like the negative space of them as they look like they could melt in a moment ❤

Oh my that mirror is just gorgeous!! I'm so glad you shared all of the ups and downs of the finishing. Your stumpwork is just perfection. I really love the almost animated look the faces and even that snail seem to have. Winking at us and slithering. Brava Katie!! I always intend to stitch and watch you but not much stitching happens. Thanks for sharing and inspiring!

Thank you for going over success and failure. Doing a review is great for learning. At the end for me, whether you succeeded or failed, the important thing is moving on as you shouldn’t dwell on either outcome but look forward to the next adventure armed with your learnings.

I love your pillow and maybe the issue is that we're looking at it as a stand alone piece, and it just needs to be placed next to something else. It's beauty is its simplicity and I think it would look lovely next to coordinating stitchery or other objects.

What I would try on Summer Hill is use your yellow on a small portion of spikes on a few of the small quilt stars. Maybe color in three of the eight spikes on a star.

The one where you took out the person - I would do some of the dark green in the centers, the add some yellow. Because I love green!

I kind of like Summer Hill as it is, some green on top maybe? But you are seeing the colors and how they are on the chart but your conversion to me speaks Summer. Oh the house on Santa Stops Here is amazing. The new blue in the Soie Surfine is stunning and can’t wait to see what you will be stitching with them. Where do I begin with the Stumpwork Mirror, truly gorgeous and unique. The snail is awesome and I love Irises, I inherited my Uncle’s Irises and they always amaze us each year. The thistle is our heritage flower, my Mom is Scottish so this flower is part of us. I received a thistle pin for my kilt from my Nana and Bampi and I treasure it and wear it with my shawls. My son is getting married in October and the thistle will be there too, he is actually getting a thistle embroidered on his vest so to see how you brought it to life is wonderful. Well done and thank you for taking the time to explain and share your process with us.

The mirror is beautiful. I'm thinking about Cabinet of Curiosity 2 and your mirror is pushing me over the edge.

I wonder whether the small Plum Street piece might have worked well with the palest green being used among the cream threads for the quilt stars.

Oh Katie I loved seeing all of your beautiful are no failures in this Stitching journey. We learn from every project and improve each time we execute something. your mirror is delightful and I can see why you were sucked into this world of stump work and casket stitching. I love your small pillow as well and if I was playing around with it I might try putting some of the white quilted style stars down into the garden area . It’s going to be a lovely enhancement piece for your next stitch. I loved spending time with you today
