If gardening is your passion then you know plants that have multiple uses carry the most value. The Willow tree which also grows as a shub is one of those plants. Not only does It makes an excellent rooting hormone for striking cuttings it also is useful as a medicinal plant, a craft and basket making plant, a biomass plant, a chop n' drop plant, a woodchip plant, a trellis making plant and I'm sure I'm probably missing some other ways this plant is useful, let me know in the comments below if you know of some other beneficial qualities.

Wise Willow! We took cuttings from a mature willow that was being cut down and now have 3 willow trees growing on our small and mighty plot! Thanks for doing the GOOD work! Love you videos

Great info!! I didn’t realise we could do this! My neighbours have a large willow that hangs over my fence, so I’ll be cutting some when it starts to grow again. My neighbours are easy going and have said we can cut whatever we want 🙂

As an herbalist for many years it hurts to see the leaves tossed aside. I realize they are good for mulch but they are wonderful medicinals as well. I really enjoyed this video and appreciate the information you provide.

My wife had curly stem willow in a flower arrangement from the store that started rooting. I put them in 1 gallon pots and left them next to the stairs. The two are now over twelve feet tall and still in the original pots. I am certain the roots just went right thru the bottom but they make for nice conversation trees. The stump is stretching the pot out a bit but it looks hilarious.

Thanks for this video. Some willows do not propagate easily through cuttings. I (and several others) have had troubles growing Bebb's willow (Salix bebbiana) through this method. Bebb's willow is used for making diamond willow walking sticks.

I'm a brand new subscriber, just today, so I've only watched a couple of your videos so far. I've been looking around on YouTube and YOURS is the BEST & EASIEST Instructional & Informative - so I'm sticking with you!

So, I have a request. I'm very poor (& almost 60yr) & hoping to move soon to an apartment finally with a patio, but a very small patio. I would love to grow some of the healthiest foods & herbs in my little space (& maybe even indoors if possible without creating a forest - LOL). I looked around on YT & although there's a lot on vertical gardening, a lot of it is copycat info & not much of it is really useful for me (having to buy a lot of stuff or build stuff, or gardening from the ground [patio is 2nd floor] or growing in giant amounts, or having to keep enough gardening tools to fill a giant garage, etc). That's when I came across your SIMPLE Laundry Basket Tower video - and EUREKA! FINALLY Info that I CAN USE! I looked around on your channel & didn't see many other videos on vertical or tiny balcony gardening, so I was hoping for MORE. I would LOVE to see videos on the most nutritional, the best yield, the cheapest routes for the poor, the easiest routes for the old & the best vertical & container gardening for people that don't have room or ground to plant from. After years of gardening & knowledge, I'm CONFIDENT that you already have the answers & that you could zero in on these issues. More & more Baby Boomers moving into low-income apartment housing, so I think your following would Grow & Grow (pun intended) in this area of information! Thank you for considering this.

P.S. I'm brand new to gardening (only years ago got to have lots of flowers, since then only apartment living), so 'newby' vids would be the best for me.

Don't forget to use aloe vera as rooting hormones. I used for many cuttings. Great results.

I have several hybrid willow Austrees and I've had entire trees have their roots eaten by gophers. They root so easily that I can put cuttings or the trunk of smaller hybrids directly into pots, fish tank or pond and they start growing new roots within a couple days. Keeping the gophers out however is nearly impossible unless I put gopher wire baskets in the ground. I thought I could live with them but they keep decimating my plantings. Moringa's, Fruit trees, willow, bamboo. I feel like I'm living in Caddy shack sometimes.

Could I dunk fig cuttings in that solution for faster rooting?

What type willow are you using?
The purple willow (Sal is purposes) is the one noted for silicon content and only grows 8 to 10 feet. Some types of willow reach 50 feet.
Help please - I live in zone 8a/b and go over100 ° F in summer with high humidity.
Which one will grow and function where I live?

Very interesting, do you think the liquid is save on your skin? I've thrown out all commercial rooting hormones as I found them unsafe to use. This is a great idea.
