Funny thing is, Dracula technically is also an Irish vampire. Yes he's from Transylvania in the story, but Dracula was written by an Irish author. But anyways, I remember seeing this for the first time in the Shin Megami Tensei games and being so happy to see an Irish myth represented.

Also, fun fact: the Leanan Sidhe is not undead, but actually a type of fairy ("sidhe" literally means fairy); same with the Banshee, whose name was originally written "Bean Sidhe". Most fairies weren't cute little pixies.

Reminds me of liśna, a Slavic folklore creature, who was known mainly in Bieszczady mountians. She looked like a beautiful woman, but with boar legs and a hole in her back. She would come from the forest to lure a man, to whom she would appear regularly, invisible for other people, and give him life advice. She would make him happy and successful, and then proceed to slowly drive him mad until he'd detach from his family and friends, lose everything and commit suicide.

I came across a small book at a used book store called Bloody Irish: Celtic Vampire Legends by Bob Curran. It had 3 or 4 short stories and each of them gave me legitimate chills. I lent the book out to a coworker a few years ago and never got it back. Used copies are available online and it's worth the read. The Irish have some fascinating vampire legends.

I could have sworn this was a fairy. And she drained essences, not blood 😮

Te olette naurettavia, ainoa energia joka teissä elää on teidän oma energianne. Kaikki muu on harhaa. Ymmärtäkää tämä te itse olette oman elämänne herroja jos ette anna muille valtaa.. 💜✨🌟⚜️✨🌞

Sounds like the inspiration for the vampire muse in DnD, a vampire of fey origin that fed off of artists and also inspired them.

My favorite is Duckula, a vegetarian vampire duck, There was a bit of a mix up when reanimating him, they accidentally used tomato sauce instead of blood.

In the US there was a similar iteration of this vampire. They were especially rampant during the 70s, 80s, 90s and the early 2000. I believe they were rumoured to be called groupies.

Dracula was written by a fellow Irish man and he based his stories on Orish/European Vampiric myths and it was apparently a metaphor for the cruelty done to the Irish by the English Landlords
