Palpatine made vaders armor heavy and bulky so that he couldn’t over power him. He also made the armor highly susceptible to lighting so that he could easily take him down with with lightning. Not just that but the suit made him in constant agony but he ended up using that to strengthen his connection to the dark side. He even at one point took out an entire rebel army that had their guns trained on him
