Parents at an Auckland primary school are taking the traditional walking school bus to the next level, with what they call the bike train. Just under a year on from its first journey, the Point Chevalier School bike train has saved over one-thousand school drop-offs by car. The group of about 12 five to seven-year-olds in helmets and hi-vis vests, makes its way down seven blocks - navigating pedestrian crossings and driveways along the way. Auckland Transport taking a liberal view of the law banning bikes on footpaths as it tries to get more schools on board with the biking trend.
