I was able to get my Z9 a few weeks ago. Having been a long time Nikon user who swapped to Sony and then back to Nikon I can truly say it isn't all about the specs. The enjoyment of use should be there as well! And ergonomics cannot be stressed enough!! The Z6II was my primary body and while the AF certainly isn't on par with the Sony A7RIV it is a decent camera. Enter the Z9... It is one heck of a camera and makes me smile every time I pick it up. The AF is astounding as well as all the other things you mentioned in the video. Is it better than the A1? I don't care because it takes great photos. What I can say is anyone who gets their hands on a Z9 will not be sorry. Thanks for the videos Matt.

Thanks Matt. For a long time when Nikon was being bagged by other "fair weathered" You Tubers (whom I no longer subscribe to their unfair rhetoric) we held our breath and hoped! I say to Nikon and their users crow long and loud for delivering a truly astonishing system. Spec's aside, I agree with you, get out and use these wonderful tools and enjoy the space you're in with them. Thanks again Matt, love your vid's and keep up the great work and content.

I waited patiently for Nikon to catch up to the competition, and they have. Love the Z9. Getting great bird shots sharp as a tack in a snow storm.

I've had the A1 for a year now after starting off with the D850, loved that DSLR but the skittish wildlife didn't like the shutter noise so I needed silent shooting. I'd probably have gone for the Z9 if it came out earlier, tried the Z6ii and Z7ii but preferred the D850 AF for BIF . The Z9 looks a great camera, I'll soon get to try one of my friends although doubtful I'll buy one now as I'm happy with the A1 it'll still be fun to try . One of the main strengths of the A1 is the customisation which I find really useful . Good to see a great choice for Canon, Nikon and Sony shooters now, all are excellent performers and each has its own advantages

Good stuff Matt. Thanks. My wife has "green lighted" me getting a Z9. But, all I want is a Z6iii with 24MP, Expeed 7 processor, backlit buttons, 2-button format, Z9's AF, just 4K video. Why? I don't shoot video much anymore & I rarely print photos. Sorry Matt. You cannot convince me to ever watch the Northrups again.

I agree! Getting out to just shoot is everything, and something I have to keep reminding myself about when the creative doldrums hit.
Specs are one thing but not everything, and as much as I would absolutely LOVE to have the [most superior] Z9 over any other camera, especially the Sony's, I honestly came to the conclusion that in my four decade history of shooting Nikons that the Z9 is WAY too much of a camera for me. I am not a video shooter or plan to go deep into it anytime soon and am no longer the go-get-'em photojournalist I used to be in my younger years, the Z9 will be waisted on me to be totally honest. I could in reality use that money in lenses to go with my Z5 or F mount bodies.
Now if ever one would just fall into my lap, Obviously I wouldn't turn it away, haha.

Specs are all fine and good. What makes a Nikon different for me from Sony or Canon is the feel and the files. The Z9 is my everyday camera now...but it could still easily be the Z6 ii or Z7 ii. All the images that come out of a Nikon have a feel. Nice video.

This was well done Matt. I don’t need or have a Z9. But I love using my Z6. And it’s great that you close out the video reminding everybody about use case and enjoyment. That’s a great focus and an important reminder to us all what photography should be about.

Main reason I like the A1 is it is very compact, actually smaller than the GH6 m4/3. Would love to see a compact version of the Z9.

I just bought the Nikon F5 and it’ll be here Monday the 28th . The next cameras I get will be the Z9 and Sony a7iv.
My Nikons are hands down just better overall than my only Sony a7siii.
The Z9 for video is smoking most everyone, at what I need . Like ProRes HQ internal. So big so big !!!
Then the photo side is just bad ass

Although I prefer my A1 because of the smaller size (I use it for travel photos), I have handled my friend’s Z9 and it certainly have better build quality. It feels like you can hammer nails with it.
