In this video, I explain how to change the Active Directory Domain Name, meaning that you can change your Domain Name. For your information, when changing the Domain Name, there are several steps that must be taken step by step to avoid any problems occurring to the server or Windows server. The idea of renaming an Active Directory domain is not a good idea, but you may find yourself necessary to change the domain name for many reasons. - rendom /showforest The command will show the changes to be made in the configuration.
- rendom /prepare command will check the availability of all DCs in the forest and if they are ready to be renamed
- rendom /execute The command below will rename the domain
- gpfixup /oldnb:xxxx /newnb:xxxx ( update the NetBIOS domain name )
- rendom /clean The command below will remove links to your old domain from AD
- rendom /end The command Unlock the domain configuration
