This video shows how to separate two styles within the same paragraph in Microsoft Word without making use of a paragraph break (Enter). In this video, this is applied to a figure caption to include only the title and not the description of the figure in the automatic table of figures.

This video is so incredibly underrated, thank you so much! For those mac users for whom the cmd+shift+H hotkey isn't working, just select the text you would like to hide, then hit cmd+D to bring up the dialogue box, and check the "hidden text" box. Worked like a charm!

For the people that this isn't working for, I have found the solution.

The Figure text only returns to a single paragraph because the paragraph marker is being hidden. If your default setting allow you to view hidden text the trick won't work. To fix it, to to Word>Preferences (command +, ), go to view and then untick hidden text.
Exit and you should be fine.😁

How can I make this when my figure and captions are inside a table. The hidden para doesn't work well in the table when I add space
