How to remove ALL animations from a google slide! (Multiple objects)

If you have a lot of animated objects on a google slide it can be difficult to remove all of them (e.g. if you want to change how things are animated). However, you can easily group all objects on the page to remove the animation on all selected objects. A lot easier.

The group option is gone from the right-click menu, and is greyed out permanently in the "arrange" dropdown menu. Is there some reason Google is removing useful features? Is there a premium version they're pushing people towards which has these basic features they used to have?
edit: grouping works for graphical objects (images/shapes), but not for text.
