Quad Summit 2024 LIVE: US President Joe Biden Revives 'Cancer Moonshot' with Quad Backing

US President Joe Biden was joined by the leaders of Australia, India and Japan on Saturday (September 21) as he announced a new initiative for reducing cervical cancer in the Indo-Pacific, expanding on his cancer moonshot initiative by making it global. The Quad Cancer Moonshot Initiative will focus on expanding cervical cancer screening and increasing vaccinations against the human papillomavirus, or HPV, a sexually transmitted infection that can lead to cervical cancer. Biden's son Beau died of brain cancer in 2015 at age 46, something the president has said helps informs his and First Lady Jill Biden's passion for the project.
