The simple difference between her and other MOC is that she actually looks you in the eyes and the others don't.

Your memory of your last meeting with your father and his impact on others as witnessed by the attendance at the memorial service means something to me. I too have no title or power or prestige but maybe when I am gone, people will realize that I did make a difference in their lives hopefully for the better.

Your father’s memorial service just proves he was an exceptional man who raised an exceptional woman. May he Rest In Peace.

Unlikely? More like inevitable. It's about time real people who care about other people are in office

The reason why certain establishment politicians are either scared of or threatened by AOC because she comes right from today's working class with no BS mixed in. AOC also uses people skills from her bartending days to interact with constituents and others to keep her fingers on the pulse of what matters to the working class.

Great and true statement from AOC about how much we can effect other peoples live just by even small interactions.
Even if we aren't people of "power". each of us can make a difference. From Bartender to Congressperson in 2 years. Wow.

At 74, I suppose I can't say I belong to her generation. I was raised to be able to think analytically, however, and her views on democracy make me tear up, because she is SO RIGHT about how it has gone foul. As long as she retains her good will, I'll admire her pluck, her grit, her scholarship in doing her homework, digging out sources, and her ability to govern with integrity, despite being under fierce attack by the very people who made America move toward putrid. Many of those people were of my own generation, but I knew them for what they were, long ago. Even when I was her age.
I've noticed something that may be significant. Successful women, especially in politics, seem to have had wonderful fathers. It's a point to ponder. Especially because so many males enjoy being able to get out of having to be fathers, and take pride in it. Our males are brought up with toxic attitudes, while a few of them grew up to be magnificent people, in spite of all that. And THEY make the best dads of all. Even to their sons. If everybody had a wonderful father, would generation gaps become this powerful and even destructive? I think not.

I'd be astonished if Republicans didn't hate her. Nor am I surprised that they feel they HAVE to attack her. Maybe they'll get lucky and find a juvenile photo of her they can use like they did on Al Franken. When they caught her dancing, they thought they had it. They didn't; she was able to put egg on their faces by dancing more.
One day, I want to see her run for president. For 2020, I'm hoping that Al Franken will run. He could wipe the floor with Republicans, almost as effectively as she can. They've done their worst to him, and his comeback would be awesome. He's a nominee who really could win in 2020. Just being a good Democrat, even a popular one, even one who also does fine homework, can't get past the prejudices that will surely cost votes to the Dem nominee. Franken will rise above every bit of that. And we can't afford to have our nominee lose.

I'm delighted to see someone who is able to not just call them out, but to do so EFFECTIVELY. Thank you, Alexandria!

The voice of reason in American politics! A Bernie-AOC Presidency would be ideal than a Trump or Biden government.
