Everything about this game's story and cast is just WILD compared to previous games.

>Toutetsu is a literal walking meme who doesn't even bother with the spellcard rules, she just turns into a giant monster and tries to eat everything before Flan almost kills her entirely
>Marisa and Reimu are completely useless the entire game
>Murasa literally opened a hole in the Sanzu river to stop Kanako's nuclear fusion reactor from blowing everything up
>Okuu nearly killed some of the girls just because she's an idiot
>This is all going on with some of the absolute best arrangements the games have ever seen

New favorite Touhou game just for how batshit it is. LolK can suck it.

If you told me last week that not only Flandre Scarlet would become an incident resolver, but do so by helping Okina Matara assassinate a hell goat with a comically large spork & the ability to be Kirby, I'd probably look at you in disbelief

As we can see Yuuma Toutetsu has presented a rather large spoon to her friend (Minamitsu Murasa). The humor in this video stems from the fact that Yuuma would like to consume ice cream but her friend resorts at her saying, she can only have a spoonful, nothing more. Toutetsu then suddenly changes her expression and body language and reveals she is indeed in possession of a spoon. And not just any spoon, it is a massive stainless steel spoon. This is funny beacuse you would never expect someone to be casually in possession of a massive spoon to eat ice cream with. It is completely unorthodox and uncalled for. This is why the video is so humorous and was put on the 2012 Epic vine compilation

Flandre unexpectedly being the heroine of the incident reminds me of the time when Hong Meiling unexpectedly was the heroine of the whole giant creature incident of Hisoutensoku (TH12.3), and said creature is one of the most villainous characters of the whole series.

Ok but "Memento of All Organisms ~ Memory of Fossil Energy" has to be the absolute most badass song title in all of this series' history

Wow, this is crazy. I love how this game really shows how hellish these leaders are. Their strength is unimaginable, and the three are absolute monsters. Yuuma absorbing oil, which is actually BLOOD (something so distasteful. Along with her powers, it fits her personality description with the taotie species she is to a T), that gush around Gensokyo, to slowly become stronger and take over Hell and the surface. None of this would have happened if it wasn't for Yachie, who forced the protagonists through her powers to deem Keiki as the absolute enemy that must be removed. After all, Saki, despite being more courageous and honorable, was delighted that the animal realm is back to it's chaotic self after Keiki was removed, and she immediately wanted to take over Hell and the human world, just like Yuuma here.

I just remembered that the only reason why the protagonists of Touhou 17 were able to defeat, much less stand a chance, against Saki was because she allowed them to use the animal spirits against her, and even then, Saki was so strong that it tired them all out completely, while she looked like she still had plenty of energy. We also already knew that Yachie was just testing them (and they couldn't really disobey her anyway). With all that said, it makes sense that there was nothing Reimu and Marisa could do against this one since they had no help and Yuuma wasn't going easy on them. They just kept getting their attacks absorbed, so they had to leave. In other games, like 15.5 against the sisters and 16 against Okina, both of which everyone a lot of trouble against them, they had to return with further assistance from someone else (such as Yukari). In here, there was no one, and while Kanako and the others had the power to not have her attacks absorbed, Yuuma simply told lies that made them think it's over (again, fits her personality and species to a T). So Flandre had to be sent. She was powerful enough not to have her powers absorbed, while childish enough to not listen to Yuuma's bull.

A divine beast with the form of a lamb.
Both greedy and a massive eater, she's able to swallow whole and devour absolutely anything, whether its body is physical, spiritual, organic or inorganic. On top of that, by swallowing something, she's able to comprehend it and turn it into her own power.
The things she eats are also said to influence her personality.

She's the chairwoman of the Gouyoku Alliance, an organization in the Animal Realm.
Rather than banding together to do anything eye-catching, the Gouyoku Alliance sits back to take a broad view of events, and plots to steal everything without lifting a finger when the time is ripe. Their motto is "when a snipe and clam argue, the fisherman catches both."

The other organizations are exhausted by her, saying that she loves dishonest and cowardly methods, but her underlings adore her as "a way-too-reliable boss with nearly-invincible power." She herself isn't particularly attached to the idea of having underlings, and seems to prefer doing everything on her own. Perhaps inspired by their boss's attitude, many members of the Gouyoku Alliance tend to act separately and of their own accord.

Despite appearances, she's actually clever, calculating, and avoids pointless conflict by nature. Upon determining that an enemy isn't one to bow in the face of threats, the Alliance studies whether they can be recruited. If they determine that recruitment will also go over poorly, they attempt to forge a mutually beneficial relationship, if only in appearances. If even that seems to be difficult, they choose to retreat quickly.
From the perspective of the Animal Realm-- a survival-of-the-fittest world where might makes absolute right-- they're a particularly abnormal organization.

For the Gouyoku Alliance, choosing all-out war is truly the absolute last resort.


This time around, she took advantage of the commotion involving the beast spirits to set her sights on the Former Hell of Blood Pools, where she planned to obtain every drop of desire from both the Animal Realm and the surface world.
However, her plan was leaked to the humans up above by the hidden god living on the surface, and she was obliterated by an assassin trained in anti-Taotie combat.

After regenerating, she gave up on monopolizing the petroleum deposit, and forged a mutually-beneficial relationship with the hidden god.
